Using the Interactive IVUS Teaching disk in your Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory

TSG-Ed has undertaken the task of developing a suite of comprehensive teaching CD-ROM's that will allow health care professionals keep abreast of rapid technological advances. In order to assist you in training Catheterization lab physicians and staff, we developed a tool to encourage direct interaction through performing IVUS measurements, previewing selected IVUS-related topics, and reviewing and correlating angio's with IVUS movies.

The software is not intended to replace hand-on training via preceptorship or in the lab, but is designed to enhance and build upon skills required for this complex technology. The software can be viewed and used by multiple users on ONE personal computer. Network capabilities can be also be incorporated with a site license fee obtained through TSG-ED.

If multiple users on the same PC wish to document their time spent, a flow sheet can be developed and each user sign-in and complete each category required by your lab for acceptable study of IVUS. A sample of a flow sheet is:

IVUS Software Categories

  • Name
  • Time in Time out
  • Morphologies (Type and # pages completed)
  • Narratives (list Speaker & Topic)
  • Angio/IVUS Match game Case Studies (# completed)
  • Synthetic Cases (# completed)
  • Quiz

If the user completes the disk, they would have spent up to 32 hours learning about IVUS. This comprehensive tool will satisfy employment standards described by The Society of Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals (SICP) in: "Employment Standards for Health Care Professionals Employed in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory."
